TL;DR (±40 words)
A loading phase (20g/day, 5–7 days) accelerates the full saturation of your muscles, but it is not necessary. For most athletes, 5g of creatine per day (even on rest days) is the simplest, most effective, and has no additional side effects. Consistency > speed.
What is a loading phase?
-
Classic regimen: ~20g/day (divided into 4×5g) for 5–7 days → then maintenance 3–5g/day.
-
Goal: to bring your muscle creatine to saturation faster.
Does 5g daily without loading also work?
Yes. You achieve the same saturation within ~3–4 weeks with 3–5g/day without a loading phase. The difference is therefore speed, not end result.
Pros and cons
Loading phase – pros
-
Faster noticeable effects (1–2 weeks).
-
Useful for short preparation for a competition.
Loading phase – cons
-
Higher chance of mild GI issues (full feeling/rumbling stomach).
-
More hassle (4 doses per day).
-
Not necessary for the end result.
5g daily – pros
-
Simple, easy to maintain.
-
Lowest chance of side effects.
-
Same end result, just a little later.
5g daily – cons
-
Effects are felt a little later (usually within 3–4 weeks).

Who benefits from loading?
-
Athletes with a hard deadline within 1–2 weeks.
-
Vegetarians/vegans with very low baseline levels (may notice a difference sooner, but 5g daily also works fine).
Practical regimens (gummies-friendly)
Without loading phase (recommended for 95%):
-
5g every day (with Beargymmies® = 5 gummies).
-
Take at a fixed time (morning/after meal).
-
On rest days: also take.
With loading phase (only if you want it fast):
-
Day 1–5: 20g/day → 4 servings of 5g (20 gummies/day is not practical; realistically only do with powder).
-
Then maintenance: 5g/day (5 gummies).
Tip: prefer powder for loading; our gummies are designed for daily consistency (comfort & compliance).
Timing: pre or post?
Research is divided; some data show a small advantage post-workout. In practice: the moment you stick to is best. Take with a meal with some carbohydrates/protein for comfort.
Safety & duration
-
Long-term use of 3–5g/day is safe for healthy adults.
-
Drink enough water; feel free to combine with taurine, potassium, and magnesium (like Beargymmies® Performance+).
Common mistakes
-
Skipping creatine on rest days.
-
Taking it too irregularly ("forgetting days").
-
Expecting creatine to work immediately: give it 3–4 weeks.
-
Loading with gummies (too many pieces) → just opt for 5g/day instead.
